With the support of Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Park President, Bonnie Weber, the Boys & Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley, has established a memorial fund to honor her beloved late husband Alexander (Al) Weber, Jr., Ph.D.
Throughout his long and successful career, Mr. Weber was recognized as a visionary business leader who maintained a deep passion for teaching, helping and inspiring fellow colleagues to reach their full potential.
Al was the founder, president, and CEO of Apex Parks. He also served as president and CEO of Paramount Parks and of Palace Entertainment. In the Santa Clarita Valley, Al was the interim CEO and COO of Six Flags Entertainment and is widely recognized for helping to keep the park financially stable and save thousands of local jobs during the economic downturn in 2008.
“Al touched so many lives and his passion for helping people succeed in business and life was always evident,” said David Menchaca, Chief Executive Officer for the Boys & Girls Club in the Santa Clarita Valley.“
The Club will be dedicating the funds to support our Keystone program. Keystone is a unique leadership development experience that provides opportunities for young people ages 14 to 18. Youth participate, both in and out of the Club, in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service. With the guidance of an adult advisor, Keystone Clubs aim to have a positive impact on members, the Club and community.
“I believe that Al would be proud to be helping the kids in the Keystone program as it aligns with his legacy of academics, career development, and service.” The positive results of this memorial fund will be reflected in the success of our current Keystone members as well as the thousands of children that will pass though our doors for many years to come,” said Menchaca.
Donations can be made payable to the Boys & Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley to benefit the Al Weber Jr., Ph.D Memorial Scholarship Fund, 24909 Newhall Avenue, Santa Clarita, CA 91321. Additional information is available at www.scvbgc.org
